Saturn in Aries, 24/5/2025 – 13/4/2028

For about two years, Saturn, the planet of boundaries and limitations, has been traveling through Pisces, where it will remain until May 24, 2025, before moving into a challenging position for it—the sign of Aries, its fall. Saturn will stay in Aries until early September when, due to its retrograde motion, it will re-enter Pisces. It will finally leave Pisces in mid-February 2026, continuing its journey through its sign of its essential debility.

Saturn through Pisces was peregrine for much of the time. Apart from the very beginning and very end of Pisces, where Saturn held only minor essential dignity, for the most part, it was a drifter, lacking direction and potentially expressing its more challenging side. With its transition into Aries, Saturn will find itself entirely in fall, unable to effectively manifest its saturnian essence.

To understand why Saturn, the “Great Malefic,” is in detriment in the sign of Aries, we need to grasp its essence. In the traditional geocentric model of the universe, which reflects the spiritual truth of the cosmos’ structure, Saturn’s sphere marks the boundary between the visible and the invisible. While the sphere of the fixed stars, closest to the Divine, is the final visible station of the cosmos and encompasses all the planetary spheres, including Saturn’s, the sphere of Saturn, as the last in order, serves as the gateway to and from the Divine. However, the gateway to the divine is exceedingly narrow, symbolizing the sacrifice required to pass through it. The challenge with sacrifice lies in the pain that comes with stripping away all that is unnecessary.

Saturn is symbolized by the cross of matter placed above the semicircle of the soul, representing the dominance of the material world over the soul. It embodies the limitations on all levels that prevent the soul from returning to its source and uniting with the divine. Saturn is like a ball and chain bound to our foot, keeping us trapped in the material realm.

At the same time, this connection to the material world is what we must sacrifice to reconnect with the divine. This sacrifice is painful, and as humans, we tend to shy away from pain. As one of the two malefic planets, Saturn reminds us of the difficult and unpleasant aspects of life that keep the soul confined, whether in real or metaphorical prisons.

As the outermost planet and the gateway between the visible and the invisible, Saturn symbolizes boundaries and limitations. It marks a point beyond which we cannot progress, leading to contraction, restriction, and disappointment. Its melancholic nature, rooted in its cold and dry qualities, represents the absence of energy and the severing of connections—a state akin to the loss of vitality and the onset of decay. This is why Saturn is associated with old age and death.

Saturn, the slow-moving planet associated with delay and gravity that is exercised on any level—the physical, psychological, and spiritual—feels out of place in the fierce and impulsive sign of Aries. Aries symbolizes the impulsive and fierce beginning of a new cycle. In contrast, Saturn’s melancholic nature represents endings, darkness, and the weight of life’s limitations. In Aries, the sign of quick action, Saturn struggles to lay the stable foundations it naturally signifies. As a result, structures tend to collapse, and Saturn expresses its harsher qualities. Discipline can become tyranny, while boundaries and restrictions tighten into suffocating constraints. As the planet that governs time, Saturn in Aries accelerates the clock, creating challenges in matters that require patience and gradual development. Thus, the planet of wisdom and justice becomes a hasty decision-maker under Aries’ influence.

From its sign of fall, Saturn loses control over the passage of those coming and going through the gates, while established order and tradition collapse. Thus, one word that could perfectly describe Saturn under the rule of the explosive Aries is anarchy.

How can we correct the troubled saturnine energy in our daily lives?

We can strengthen a weak, initial planetary state of Saturn in our lives through the cosmic principles of sympathy and antipathy. By doing so, we can enhance a planetary force either by applying its purest and strongest qualities or by invoking its opposite to neutralize or balance the weaker initial state. This can be achieved through various methods, one of which involves adopting specific life attitudes.

In the case of a weak Saturn, the cross of matter burdens the semicircle of the soul. We can alleviate this by integrating Saturnian virtues into our lives, such as humility and self-restraint. With Saturn in Aries, it is a time to utilize time wisely without resisting its flow, allowing us to reap precisely what we have sown. This approach helps us distance ourselves from situations, establish boundaries, and practice restraint.

Even though Saturn in Aries might appear tyrannical, it is essential to approach it with humility and self-restraint. Saturn symbolizes reality and truth, and during its weaker phases, it demands consistent self-reflection and truth-checking. This is not an ideal period for creating new structures or establishing enduring principles, as they are unlikely to have solid foundations. Instead, it is an opportune time to deconstruct outdated systems and beliefs.
