On the 4th of July, Venus, the natural planet of unions, leaves behind the sign of Taurus and enters the sign of Gemini. Through most of her transit in Gemini, Venus is peregrine – without any essential dignity. There is only a brief opening window around the middle of the airy sign, where Venus steps up on the ladder of her essential dignity, entering in her own Term. That, of course, is better than being peregrine, but even with that small amount of dignity Venus remains weak on the essential level.
The transition from Taurus to Gemini is like Venus being cast down from her throne, entering a state of exile. In Gemini, Venus no longer knows how to do her venusian stuff. She lacks direction and her peregrine state favors momentary pleasures and superficial affections, with little strength or stability in matters of love and harmony.
As previously noted, the air element is the element of ideas and verbal exchange. In the gaseous environment of Gemini, Venus takes on a more cerebral expression. Her allure and charm shift away from the tangible and material, becoming more rooted in intellect. From this position, Venus seeks pleasure and love primarily through communication, thought, and the exchange of ideas. Gemini’s mutable air is very different from Libra’s cardinal air, where Venus feels at home. Libra symbolism supports Venus’s nature of balance and harmony. In Gemini, a mutable and double bodied sign, Venus scatters her cheerful nature in many different ways making difficult to build the stable and lasting bonds she enjoyed in Taurus.
The moment she enters in Gemini, Venus will be ruled by Mercury, the natural planet of harsh reasoning and bare, cold data. There attributes that are contrary to Venus’ nature. Being under the domicile of Mercury, Venus tunes into the details and variables as if there was small chucks of love, categorized and placed in order. Since Gemini is a loud-voiced sign, Venus can work her eroticism and charm through the using of the worlds as an instrument of pleasure. It’s interesting that ancient traditional astrologers, considering the fact that Gemini one of the three barren signs, suggested that Venus’s transit through these signs was a suitable time for sexual activity without the intention of conception. Still, while ancient teachings offer useful guidance, it’s important to also use personal judgment when applying these ideas.
Additionally, Gemini is a human sign, known for its social and graceful qualities. This helps Venus—who naturally rules over relationships, diplomacy, and social ease—to encourage smoother interactions and open the way for new connections during her time here.
During the period of Venus in Gemini you can engage in light-hearted, social activities where Venus’ sociability is saturated through Mercury’s connection. This is a good time for witty banters, texting, playful word exchanges where you can flirt but keep it casual. During that moment, love can be expressed through words and ideas. You can explore ideas in beauty, art and style that reflect duality, variety and conceptualism. Bring pleasure in the moment, engaging in non-committal pleasures where you can’t expect depth or permanence. Since Venus is weak during her transit in Gemini, she lacks grounding, so initiating everything venus-like may lack lasting roots. Make it fun but keep it casual.
This moment is no favorable time for conception-related efforts.
